Made by Thornton was founded by Peter Thornton in a small village in Germany, inspired by a simple appreciation for natural materials, thoughtful design, and the kind of craftsmanship that feels increasingly rare today.

What started as a small creative outlet in a home workshop quickly grew into something much more — a way to create meaningful pieces that bring warmth, personality, and character into people’s homes.

Every item we make begins with carefully selected wood and a clear intention: to create décor that feels timeless, honest, and made with care. From personalised nursery signs to rustic home décor and custom pieces, each design is thoughtfully crafted with attention to detail and respect for the material itself.

At Made by Thornton, we believe that good craftsmanship tells a story. Knots, grain patterns, textures, and imperfections are all part of what make handmade pieces feel real and unique. We don’t believe in mass-produced décor with no soul — we believe in creating pieces that people genuinely connect with and want to keep for years to come.

Living in rural Germany has shaped much of our inspiration. Surrounded by forests, old villages, and traditional craftsmanship, we’re constantly reminded that simple, well-made things often have the most lasting value.
